[Las Vegas, NV] - Shake Shack

Image
I felt so out of the loop when it came to the In-n-out vs. Shake Shack conversation. I have been meaning to get back out to the East Coast; it just has been lower priority than making my annual trip to Taiwan. Luckily, Vegas has everything, including Shake Shack. So, I was finally able to give it a try.  We weren't hungry, so we shared one burger, fries, and a shake. As seen below, it is pricy! Even so, it was a great burger. I don't know that I would want to pay that much again, but it was good, nonetheless. The meat was grilled and had that nice little crispiness to the edge of the bun, too. The fries were better than In-N-Out. I don't know what the disagreement can be, because hands down, this is much  better than In-N-Out. Of course, if you're looking for it, it's on the Strip at New York, New York. Fitting. This Christmas Cookie Shake was good, but I was only able to get through a tiny bit before I had to give up or die of diabetes. A...

[Las Vegas, NV] - White Castle

Image
I'm going to make this one short and sweet. If you like cheap burgers that make a great snack, then White Castle is for you. Each slider is tiny and cheap, but for fast food, tastes really good! It's an East Coast thing, and if you didn't want to try it after watching Harold and Kumar , then I just don't know. I had my first one in the suburbs outside of Chicago and I have been addicted ever since. Located on the strip inside the Best Western, it's a great place to go for a quick snack. Or to handle your drunchies. I am a fan of the jalapeno cheeseburgers Address: 3411 S Las Vegas Blvd,  Las Vegas NV 89109

[Albany, OR] - Burgerville

Image
Somehow, I find myself driving between Sacramento and Seattle/Portland on an annual basis. The drive is long and boring. After so many years of this back and forth though, I have found a few stops along the way to stretch my legs and eat some good food! I sometimes make a stop in Albany after I leave Portland to head back to Sacramento. In the morning, they have really good breakfast sandwiches and burgers. Everything is pretty natural and locally sourced, are antibiotic free, rBST free (the dairy), cage free (and organic!) chickens, and the beef is from co-ops. Just a few of the many reasons I love Burgerville!  The portions aren't super-sized, which is great. Driving while stuffed is a terrible feeling. Oh, and one of the other things I love about their burgers is that they use Tillamook Cheese! It's always hard for me to say no when Tillamook Cheese is involved.  Seasonal strawberry shake. [Fife, WA] - Pick-Quick Burgers

Image
Thought I would take a moment to post this up from my last trip up to Seattle (around Christmas time 2016). Not sure if anyone else knows about this place, but Pick-Quick is one of  my favorite places to grab a burger in the PNW. It's old school - been around since the 1949! - the menus and location look like it's still the same as it was when it opened. It's located in Fife, somewhere most Eastsiders don't make it out to. Luckily for me, my dad worked out in that vicinity and knew about this and shared it with the rest of us.  The burgers are on the smaller side. If you are looking for Carls Jr., this is not the place for you. These are burgers the way they were always made and I appreciate it. Simple menu, simple food, all done well. They also serve some of the best shakes around! Be sure to check if they're open before heading over since they close during the winter!
